So I bought the games...
Hello,
I recently bought the games (Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall) and I actually like them (which I wasn't totally sure about I would. Anyway to the point. I would like to know if it's better to start playing in Prophecies, than in Factions or Nightfall? Do I get something in Prophecies, I don't in Factions/Nightfall? (or the other way around) I was just wondering if I have to play a character up to level 20 in each of the games? (to gain nothing else but the history(which I think I will at some point, just not aiming at that at the moment)) I tried pvp out yesterday and I found it pretty interesting, but it sounded like I could uptain items with a role play char. and then send them or something to the pvp char.? Thank you for your time! |

Go Nightfall, it has heroes, those will help you in the 2 other games.

Faction has assassins and ritualists, as well as a springboard into the lvl 20 content (rather short tutorial, quick leveling) Prof has a slow learning curve, nice and simple to master, and a few freebies here and there skill and item wise (nothing Uber though) Quote:

PvP chars can create endless amounts of PvP gear free though,so its not often you use PvE items |

Something all GW players should know: gw.gamewikis.org
As for the differences between starting in a campaign or another. In Prophecies, the going is slow for a while. You start in Pre-Searing, a beginner area where you will learn about the game mechanics and such. Once you leave Pre-Searing, you can't return to it. In Post-Searing, you have the missions, more quests, more skills. It will take you up to the 15th mission or so to get to level 20, and that's about halfway through the Prophecies campaign. After that (once you're level 20) the game actually starts. ^_^ In Factions and Nightfall, there is an island set apart as a "Beginner zone" You are able to return to these islands once you get off of them. On both islands, you gain experience much faster than in Prophecies, and by the time you get off the island you are level 18-20. The main action in both Nightfall and Factions is for level 20s. You don't have to get a character to level 20 in all three games. Once you unlock the port area of a campaign, you can travel to the other continents. In Prophecies, this means Lion's Arch. In Factions, it's Kaineng Center. In Nightfall, it's Consulate Docks/Kamadan (I think xD). So say that your Nightfall character has unlocked the docks. You take a quest and it will allow you to travel to Tyria (Prophecies) or Cantha (Factions). After that, you will be able to switch between those two continents simply by using the Boat icon on the map. I am not that into pvp, but I understand that there are some reward points you can get (by playing Heroes Battle or such) and you can exchange those for items. Since all your characters on your account share the same Xunlai Vault (storage box) you can easily transfer them from one to another. If you want to trade the item, or make it useable for another character, DO NOT customize it. That will make it usable only for the character it's customized for. I hope I answered your questions ^_^ EDIT: Something I completely forgot. Nightfall has Heroes. You can get them on characters from other campaigns, though. Just unlock the port and go to Kamadan. The first quests will give you 3 heroes (2 monks and 1 warrior, IIRC) and you can get a Ranger or an Ele pretty quickly after that. They're all you need to make your way through any of the campaigns. Assuming that you LINKED all of your accounts, then what everyone here is saying is true. On that note, I really hope you linked the accounts to one another. |

start chars in factions you will lvl up in less time that any other game FACT
edit:when you get your char to nf your heros will automaticly be lv 15 not lvl 2 and start lvling them + nf takes way too much time to lvl up |

I would certiainly recommend to start with Prophecies, because it has the beginning of the main storyline and a far better introcuction area as well as character development. But starting in Prophecies also takes more time because the leveling is slower. Not really an important issue imo.
Then Nightfall for the heroes or Factions if you want to play in other of release. |

On a side note, I read somewhere that you can use your PvE char. for PvP, then I wondered if you can change it back? PvP once in a while and then PvE a little (same char.). Thanks for the answers! Cheers |

Ok to settle the questions about linking the games to one account, I did and it seemed like the smartest heh.

And sorry for all the questions hehe, would just like to try the fun parts of the game and not sit grinding all day! Thanks Last edited by LeCattez; Nov 19, 2007 at 02:30 PM // 14:30.. |

The 50 gold is per character, not per account.
Your PvE character can always switch between PvE and PvP. It does not become "flagged" for "pvp only" or anything like that. |

Playing through with a PvE char can unlock different weapon mods and insignia's n such which will then be usable by your PvP chars when modding your armor (press j key to bring up armor modding/changing, while on PvP).

Thanks a lot for all the kind answer
Seems like I have gotten a bigger understandment of the game, than I had before, by making this topic. Now it's just time to level a little and then pvp some more, so watch Mrs Guldlock and my other chars in the future! Cheers |

Head over here http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/f...play.php?f=223 if you need assistance on playing an assasin.
First guildwars character + assasin + exploding mobs = frustrating for a new player. |

Haven't got an IGN atm, but I'll take a look at it if I need some more assistance hehe.
Have got my assassin level 15 now, it has been a little hard with the last few quests, but I made the first time trial mission at expert (first try of course). And I'm now at the harbor place. It's funny how my henchmen are 5 levels higher than me, in the beginning I was the highest and now it has sort of changed the last few levels |
